Hello, I have a friend who was diagnosed with lupus 8 months ago. He's 23 and doctors say that what he has is very rare because it usually affects women especially black women. Anyways, he can't walk or even lift his legs. The medication (steroids) don't seem to work. His parents are really discouraged and have decided to sell their house to get a new one more equiped for his condition. It's really hard for my friend because he used to be a great athlete, a competitive skier and now he has to be washed and fed by his mother. His mother told me 3 days ago that she is interested in exploring natural alternatives for her son because they really have nothing to lose. I've done a bit of research on the internet and the supplements that popped up the most for lupus were Pycnogenol, Fish Oil, DHEA and Alpha Lipoic Acid. It also says to reduce protein and saturated fats which he eats a lot of. Dr. Stoll, can you tell me what you would recommend in this situation? They have alot of money so the cost of the supplements isn't a problem. Thanks

Try Cayce store 1-866-812-8778. There is a clinic in Arizona and one in Virginia beach, Virginia. Start there and ask questions. Good luck

Hi, Jenny.
Listen to SHAPE and Gen.
Serious SR at least a half dozen times a day (What else is he doing with his time?); the PWFD (Beth'sBook.); underwater exercises every day & The "Perfect Food" supplement by gardenoflifeusa.com ALONG with the other stuff you have mentioned.
In addition, the information in the autoimmune & lupus archives will help.

I had a friend who was diagnosed with Lupus a couple of years ago...she went on a diet of only whole, non-wheat grains (lots of brown rice and millet), all organic meats, fresh organic veggies, and nothing else for 3 months. At the end of that time, she was symptom free and tests were negative. She gradually added in fruit, dairy, wheat, etc. to check for her sensitivites, but still remains healthy today. She is still primarily on the perfect whole foods diet. I hope this gives you some optimism that there is the chance for recovery from this terrible disease.
