For the last couple of months my glands on my neck have been swollen. First the doc that I saw said that it was my salivary glands swollen and because it was large like a golf ball that the next time that he'd have to remove it. Just recently it swelled again and another doc said that it was Acute Lymphnitis or something. I have to go back to the doc today and my friend had heard something about Lymphomas(type of cancer or something) and I creeped out by all of this. Can someone please tell me what this could be? I've been tested for Mono and Strep and its neither.

I've had close to the same problem. It started in early February for me and is still persisting. I've seen many doctors for this and they can't give me a decent answer. I've never had problems with swelling in the neck area before. I came across this great site last night and posted a question just a few before you. Hopefully we have some more info before the day is out!

Hi, lisha and Neil.
Conventional docs are used to making a quick decision that will gest rid of the symptom without thinking deeply about WHY something like this is happening.
You will need a doc who cares enough to find the cause.
If I knew what parts of the country you were from I might know someone, personally, that might fit that bill.

The lymph node on the right side of my neck has been swollen for months now, and I've seen four doctors. Three of them said it was a viral infection as I had swelling in my throat, no trouble swollowing, but discomfort when swallowing - no pain. An ENT doc said I had tonsilitis, and prescribed antibiotics on three different occasions. I did have my tonsils removed in 1988, but he said that 1/2 of my right one was left, which he said is OK b/c that's how they used to do the surgery. The symptoms just keep returning. The whole time I was being treated for this "infection", I never had a fever and my WBC was always within normal range. Also, the lymph node in my neck hurt only one day out of the past four months. Now I'm to the point that the lymph nodes on the right side of my neck, my right collar bone area, and both sides of my groin are swollen. They really don't hurt that much, and the size varies day to day. The ENT doc doesn't think it's lymphoma, and I don't either b/c one day the nodes are big, and the next day they shrink down. I'm at my whits end, and am sick of visiting doctors. Besides, no one can get me an appt. any sooner than a month away even though I tell them my lymph nodes have been swollen for several months. I'm beginning to think it's all in my head. Other than the swollen lymph nodes, I feel fine. (no fatigue, night sweats, or fever as I mentioned). Also, if I become stressed out, the swelling increases as does the swelling in my throat. Could this be an allergy? I do have an appt.set up with an immunologist/allergist, but that's not until May 1st. I'm very frustrated and I'm starting to become very apathetic about the whole thing.
