Swollen lymphnodes(groin)?

About 2 months ago I pulled a muscle in my left thigh. I think it was a muscle pull but Ive never had one before. It is in the top of my thigh when i sit about 7 inches from my groin. Ive rested it and if I star off fast (running) it reaggravates it. Since that time Ive noticed swelling in my left groin and had 2 high fevers(103.5) for about 36 hours each. Also fatigued feeling comes and goes. My doctor told me that my lymph nodes are swollen and I may have EBV. I ve had mono 2x once young and once a couple of years ago. He told me to get blood tests. He ordered a CBC,UA,CMP and a EBV test. He told me that the CBC was the most important to rule out Leukemia. I do not have insurance or the money for the other tests at this time.
My question is could this muscle pull be in the groin and not swollen lymph nodes. I reaggravated it last night running and my groin is now sorer than before. Could a muscle be pulled under my lymphnode and it is making the whole area sore.
I was also tested for a hernia. negative.
Thank You
I just ordered the relaxation and stress relief workbook that you recommend in this site. It is the 1995 edition I believe. I found it on Half.com for $4.50

Hi, Gregory.

First of all a groin pull (sprain) takes at least 6 weeks OF NOT REINJURING IT to heal--unless you have the money to do what the professioinal athletes do.

Next, your other symptoms cannot be from this. You do need a better diagnosis. The main thing you want to rule out is leukemia (or the like) and the cbc will best do that. That should not cost you more than $10 and, since you have already seen your doc, he should call the lab and authorize it for nothing.

Without urinary symptoms, the UA is worthless.

The other diagnoses he is trying to rule out cannot be treated by conventional medicine so there is no reason to pursue those. Your options for those things are well spelled out on this bulletin board and in the search engine, glossary and archives.

Let us know what you learn.

The CBC came back fine. It cost me $40.00 plus 10 for the draw. My question now is - Is it possible that I pulled a muscle in the area where my lymphnodes are in my groin. Or is it possible that the pull in my thigh is causing my lymphnodes to swell and be sore.
I checked the archives and learned alot but did not encounter this question.
Thank You,
Greg

Hi, Gregory.

Your doc is ripping you off.

A cbc costs the doc less than $3 from the lab. For him to charge you $40 and charge you for the drawing as well...........
