Hey Dr. Stoll,
What is the difference between Hellerwork and rolfing? I went to two Hellerwork appointments a few years ago but quit going because I couldn't afford it. But now I would like to try it again or rolfing since I am still in pain which I can't stand and have credit cards.
Thanks,
Timi

HI, Timi.
One will get about the same results from Hellerwork as from Rolfing. It is just a later development that is based in Rolfing training.
Let us know how you do.

I've been rolfed and hellerworked (with many years between the two series) and found Hellerwork more empowering for the client, giving me tools to understand and better care for my body. Great work and result from both, though.

I cannot argue with you there. The last I heard, the Rolfing Institute was integrating Hellerwork (which originated from Rolfers out in the field) back into standard Rolfing training.

Hellerwork & Rolfing are powerful somatic therapies which have their roots in the work of Dr. Ida P. Rolf (1896-1979)
I would certainly agree that the similarities are more significant than the differences. If there's no Rolfer in your area, see a Hellerwork practitioner, or vica-versa.
A listing of Hellerwork Pracs. is to be found at www.hellerwork.com/gpracti.html
For Rolfers go to www.rolf.org
For those distant from practitioners of either persuasion may I suggest you look at my book, just published: "The Owners Guide to the Body" where I attempt to make the principles of classic Structural Integration accessible to a wider public by looking at how to sit, stand and walk with more ease, balance and integrity

Thanks, Roger!
Until now, I had no way to refer people to Hellerwork even though I knew of its relationship to Rolfing. We will archive this so others can get the information and find a Hellerwork practitioner in their area.
Namaste`

Hi Roger.
The (800) number you have on your book's website (for the USA) is incomplete.
Please let us know what it is.
