Hello Dr. Stoll and everyone,
Two things to share, first-- I had another massage today, my neck is doing great. My MT was so happy that I have responded so well, and I am of course. That neck massage was pure pleasure, hardly any knots, lumps of whatever. Then we got to the back, he talked to my doctor and had a ready to go signal from him. I thought I would die!!! My MT was very easy and wanted to go slow, "we are not going to break threw any walls today" he said. He said 3 weeks would not be long enough, like it was for my neck. I was inflammed, tight, and had alot of "rocks" in there. My hips joints are somewhat locked, " which I knew already" and I have and extra verbrate( they call it L-6, which my MT thought it should be called 0-S, if they were going to name it. Because the last one for the Lumber is L-5. He had never see such a thing. Anyway its connected to the one above or below it. MY MT thinks that is why my back is causing so much problems.( my hips were rotated when I was hit from the back end of my car, alone with whiplash and whatever else, but this was in 97) My ribs are very tender and I reminded him that I could not expand my lung to full expansion, I was stuck, which he agreed, he worked on that area as much as he could and said there is more to come later, I'm still somewhat locked. Anyway I go back Monday and I will keep you posted. Tumbs up for me, because I went, fear and all. I still went!! Oh and by the way his last comment was " you wrestled with me hard today" I reminded him that I never one time hit him, he laught and said, no not your hands but your back did. Thanks guys!!! (Lets see if I can move tommore)
Now my second comment-- I was doing SR at home, I usually do it with my doctor, and had not tried it at home alone. I did the things he taught me and I really don't know what happen, maybe I wasn't relaxed enough or to much, I'm not for sure. What happened was that my left leg and hip just about killed me. It was jerking, and had this crazy electrical feeling running up and down it and then jerk again, the jerks got so bad that I thought it might hurt my neck again. Then (call me crazy) I heard my body say, " You need Pot. mag. and calicum." Now let me explain-- in Dec I became sick with a virus, thrown-up and all, I ended up in the ER for 8 hours because I became dehyrated quick(within 2 hours) so I was getting fluids. I did a blood test and it came back low on pot. So my doctor began to have me take more pot. I did and then I did some test for GSML and they advise me to stay off all of my vitamins for 3 weeks. (1 test a week for 3 weeks. Well I just finished all the test, but forgot to begin all my vitamins, I took the C,B,E and mult, but just had not started all of them. Then while doing this SR ( if I'm doing it right) I heard these directions. That was enough jerking and voices for me, I got up and took all my vitamins and mineral, (calicum, mag., and pot) and decide I let you guys be my judge. I sure don't want to punish my body, maybe I just need to move alittle and all that pain would had gone, but it was strange because when I came out of the SR, I could lay still with no jerking or electric, but when I tried it again, I was right back to jerking and etc. HELP-Thanks__Vicky
One more thing - During SR in my doctors off-I never expericed the pain in my doctors office, but I did see a young women sitting on a rock and she said "you have a lump" then she was gone, and I thought I was alittle crazy, I never told my doctor friend what happen because of fear of what he would thing, but I went home and prayed and asked God to show me if I had a lump anywhere. As I took my shower I did a breast exam and there it was, scared the heck out of me. I went to the doctor and did a biopsy and all was WELL. I told my doctor later about the lump but never that I learned about it during our SR session. I no I should had and now I no him well enough to say about anything, but then I just wasn't for sure. --Vicky

Wow, Vicky! That's quite a remarkable bunch of experiences. You must be really in tune to be able to pick up those messages, voices, and visions! It's amazing what we can learn and know when we keep our heart, mind, and spirit open. Congratulations for being so open to these messages and trusting them. It is quite a gift to be able to do that. Our bodies are very electrical, so running short of certain minerals can definitely cause some strange symptoms. Sounds like your body knows how to get your attention when it needs something!
Sounds like your massage session today was just what you needed. I'm glad you had the courage to continue going. It's such a great feeling when you have such a breakthrough like you did with your neck and that the benefits last until the next session. I went to see one of my old, long-time massage therapists last week, after seeing someone else (where I did all the physical/emotional release work), not him, for a couple of months. He said my neck was so different this time, like a new neck! One day you will probably recall your low back pain as a very distant memory. I hope I will as well!
In my experience, the areas where we are locked up or extremely tender also store a lot of emotional memories related to our physical trauma. Often these thoughts are not even in our conscious memory. This is why it is so hard to relieve the pain, and why it keeps coming back until we process and release the emotions related to the trauma.
Sounds like it will take some time, but do keep working with the massage therapist and I think you will keep having positive results. There are a lot of good massage therapists out there, but this one you have is definitely a peach and a keeper!
Please keep us updated. Treat yourself gently this weekend, and best of luck on Monday.

Thanks Nutmeg,
I believe as well that someday soon all the pain of that car accident will be gone. No more neck and back pain-looking forward to it.
I believe you have had some wonderful experience's with MT. That is wonderful that you could release those pin up emotions. Did you tell your old MT what had happened? Keep on doing what works for your body and thanks.--Vicky

Hi Vicky,
I told my old massage therapist the general idea of what happened with the emotional releases with the new MT, but I didn't get into the details. The old MT is very good technically, and I have been working with him for something like 6 years, but he's just not the kind of guy I can share such personal details with. I don't get a strong feeling of spiritualism or an emotional connection with him like I immediately did with the new guy. I never felt comfortable crying in the old MT's presence either, other than a few sighs or tears for the really deep stuff. I felt like I needed to be tough. He does know that I had a car accident 23 years ago and that something very traumatic happened to me the next day that both caused me to lock up my breathing and pain all these years since it happened, and that I found someone to help me release those deeply held connections. He definitely sees the benefits in my neck and other areas.
On the other hand, I spilled my guts of something I'd never told anyone else and sobbed, cried, and gasped for breath in the presence of someone I'd only known for an hour! All because he saw the pain and turmoil I held inside the first time we met and offered his help through massage. I consider it one of my greatest blessings to have crossed paths with the new MT when I did. The timing was perfect and everything in my life has come together since November. Once I realized how bound up I was, it was easy to see how my stored memories, pain, and fears had allowed my health to degrade over the years.
The bodymind is an interesting thing :)
Looking forward to continued improvements, as well! Best of luck to you.

Thanks, Nutmeg.
This is the muscle memory we all use when remembering a phone number by punching it in. This is what the Rolfers and Hellkerworkers are talking about.

Glad I have successes to share, Dr. Stoll!
I did have a series of Rolfing (11 sessions) last year. It was amazingly helpful, and really changed my structure to relieve quite a bit of chronic pain, but I had these blockages that prevented me from letting the Rolfer in to do his full job. I was still in pain. Now I'm trying neurocranial restructuring (NCR), which, after 4 series, has also helped somewhat. In fact, that's where I discovered the source of the blockages--the doctor doing the NCR said he just couldn't get in there to work/release my musculature and at each visit the work he did the previous time was mostly undone. All the worst places that he worked on brought tears or a fear response. He suggested I do some type of emotional release work, and I just opened up my heart and took it from there. I'm no done by any means, but the results of all I have been doing (counseling, rapid eye therapy, hypnotherapy, reading, massage, SR, affirmations, etc...), have been amazing.
Thanks,
Nutmeg

Thanks, Nutmeg.
I would say the reason your Rolfer had trouble and the NCR guy is too is because your SR benefits are still not nearly there.
