back massage tools website

Posted by dd [1706.26] on January 30, 2005 at 15:18:15:

I bought the backnobber II about 2 weeks ago, and I
can honestly say that I am getting more benefit from
this than my bodyworker, who is excellent at what he
does, but can not work on me daily. And, I am finding
that I can more precisely find what I need working on
myself alone. This tool, once you learn how to use it (by
trial and error) is amazing. I am finding that it is helping
me to release my bracing patterns from violin playing
quite quickly.

Hi dd, I have recommended the backnobber since my massage therapist showed it to me a couple of years ago. Another therapist showed me the roll bar. This is good for myofascial release and you might want to acquire this as well. It's about 30" long and you lie with your spine right down the length of it. It was only about $20 and very worth the expense.

Hi Sally,

Is the roll bar made from a very dense styrofoam (sp?)
type material, but sturdy? about 8" diameter and like
you say, about 30 inches long?

If this is what you are talking about, I have one of those
too. I got it at the same time, and got it to do excercises
that a physical therapist gave me. Very good. The guy
at the store said it is also used for pilates?

Thanks, DD.

This is an example of the benefits of daily therapy as opposed to weekly or several times a week therapy for bracing.

Yes, dd, I just lay on it lengthwise for a few minutes at a time. Then I turn it horizontal and roll slowly up or down my back. My back has improved a lot. I wish I could find something for the thigh muscle which has created most of my problems. I've tried several different stretches, etc. and with weights but still very tight. I wonder how the pilates work?

Great, dd!

Stretching also works well for self-help for muscular conditions. Sometimes the therapist can get in deeper than stretching and self-massage, but basically, many people/conditions are really benefitted by daily home care.

Best wishes,
Jan

Hi Sally,

You might want to take yoga for that thigh muscle issue.
I have an issue with one of my thighs as well, but it
turns out that it was stemming frm a mid back tork.
Since I got that to move, the hip is freer, and the thigh
stopped hurting completely.

Hi Jan,

Thanks. I have always been just a wee bit jealous of
the folks that can afford the myriad of different therapies
needed to stay free and mobile. People in my
profession could use professional help, like an
athelete, every single day. But, this tool does help quite
a bit!

Thanks for reminding me, dd. Yoga stretches were very helpful to me at one time.
