Whole Foods carries it. You can also buy from their website. Ecover is another brand, but I've had better results with Seventh Generation.

I've been using Kiss My Face for personal care, but I am looking for something even better.

check out:

also, if you go to any coop/natural foods store and talk to the people in the halth and body section they are suually pretty knowledgable and be able to point you toward particular products that meet your personal needs (ie; are you doing it to be environmentally friendly or is it absolutely imperative that it be hypoallergenic, scent-free, petro-chemical free, etc)

I personally use 7th generation for laundry and household cleaning, use a locally made natural soap for washing, use thoms of maine for toothpaste (not the best in terms of health, but it works really well and isn't so bad) and use tea tree oil shampoo. I don't use deoderant at all, which was minorly stinky for a few months but then magically most of the smell disappeared (beides, I think humans should be a little smelly anyway) and a simple soap and water rinse a few times a day when I'm really sweating is all I need. Alternately you might want to look at deoderant stones. Most of my female friends use keeper cups instead of tampons/pads and they all seem to like them immensely.

Well, I was wondering about this question several years ago, and couldn't find anything I could absolutely trust. So I started to learn to make my own skin care/cleaning products such as vegetable soup/shampoo/moisterizer/toothpaste/dish detergent. So for five years now, I have been using my home-made products with great satisfaction. And they are really, really easy to make.

Sounds great. Would you mind sharing the information on how to make them?

Hi "OK Then,"

Sure I don't mind sharing these info:

For making toothpaste, combine vegetable glycerine (most health food stores have it) and baking soda to make a paste, and that's toothpaste! Of course, for a fancier version, you can add peppermint essential oil; for anti-bacteria purposes, add grape fruit seed extract. I've tried all the above and liked them; but for real simplicity, I prefer just dipping a wet tooth brush in baking soda--it's great for my teeth!

For moisterizer, combine vegetable glycerine with distilled water half and half; that's it. For a more decadent version, use rose water for the water; or add any of you fave essential oils.

For soap/shampoo/dish detergent, you'll need a few more ingredients such as olive oil, palm oil, coconut oil, and lye (i.e. sodium hydroxide), combine all together with distilled water and you get the best soap on earth. Of course, there is a bit more to it, like the proportions and tempratures, etc. If you are really serious about soap making, I'd suggest Susan Miller Cavitch's "The Natural Soap Book," which explains in great detail how to make great soaps for every purpose: body, hair, beauty, etc. Check your puplic library see if they have a copy of this book.

For me, I don't want to put on my body/skin/hair/mouth anything I wouldn't eat, so these homemade products are really as safe as they can get, and they are such a great joy to use, everyday!

Thanks, bing,

I'm going to try the toothpaste and look into the soap book.
