Anaphylaxic reactions limit life

Posted by Lynne on March 07, 2003 at 22:39:33:

My first anaphylaxic reaction was in June 1994 from appox 300 bug bites received in the workplace (and my physician told my husband at that time that if he had waited just 30 more minutes to bring me in for help, the doctor could have done nothing and I would have died). Since then I had to quit a job in 1998 from exposures to pesticides in the work place and subsequent anaphylaxic reactions, ER visits and declining health. For over a year, I have been socially isolated because of reactions that begin with swelling in my throat and chest, restricted breathing, and excessive congestion. Things that trigger these reactions are: perfumes, colognes, any scented product including laundry products, hair products, etc, cleaners, bleaches, carpet cleaners, air fresheners, and the list goes on and on. I had to go to the ER twice in 2002 because I could not control the allergic reactions with antihistimes and albuterol; I have found that an ER visit is very dangerous for me since hospitals harbor perfumes fanatics and chemical users -- and these are the very things that send me to the ER for emergency help -- so by the time I actually go to the ER, I have already administered the Epi shot.

For over 10 months, I was unable to do any shopping outside my home; every time I went to a doctor, I was exposed to something and had a horrible reaction. Frankly, there is no escape from this deadly, frightening type of allergic reaction. I got a respirator in December and now do limited shopping for groceries, but with every venture outside my home, I have to come home and detox (or risk a reaction that could land me in the ER). IT is a nightmare. Imagine having to ask a friend or family member to buy tampons for you... and imagine of how dependent an adult feels when they are unable to run any errands for themselves, constantly dependent on family/friends.

My physicians are scared to treat me and literally run from the room to get away from me (observation from my 14 yo son). I am sick of this nightmare. HELP! I do not believe that traditional medicine has the solution to my problem but I do NOT even know where to start to try to "fix" my body.

I have read several of your BB posts and tho they do deal with MSC, they do not deal with the life-threatening reactions that rule my life. (The IGe levels have not been tested, but doctors confirm the deadly swelling in my throat and my lungs.) Frankly I would welcome some help or even some direction. BUT most especially I would welcome the idea that I will not live the rest of my life in this hell.

Thanks for your help.

Lynne

Hi, Lynne.

First of all, you definitely need to start seeing a Clinical Ecologist (all of whom are Board Certified in Allergy and so can handle the life-threatening aspects of this as well as anyone can). Get copies of all your records and construct a lifetime history like that described in the Health Coaching Protocol.

Start strengthening your immune system by practicing SR, using a rebounder (gently), at least 10 minutes many times a every day, and only eating whole foods (minus those you already know you are hypersensitive to). Learn as much about LGS as you can since you are going to have to be looking for burdens you can lift from your system while you are working with this.

Go to the archives for how to find a good CE close to you and for the national organizations of CE practitioners. CIIN might be a good resource for you.

Let us know what you learn and how you do.

Walt
