After an acute exposure to construction glue in June 2001, I have developed many of the classic symptoms of MCS (IBS, fatigue, shallow breathing, etc). Many of these symptoms improve when time passes after exposures, all except the breathing problems. I always feel short of breath. I have done many things to try to improve my environment, including diet, air filters, avoidance, etc. However, even on my best days, my breathing never goes back to normal. It is interesting to me that my breathing worsens when I do not carefully follow my diet plan of keeping my pH level balanced. Too much acid and my breathing worsens. I wonder if my breathing can ever be improved, or am I stuck with this. Could the lungs have tissue damage? Pulmonary function test shows nothing abnormal. Sometimes I read that I can get better with time and avoidance. Other times I read that this will only progress with time and subsequent unavoidable exposures. Do I need to go to a specialist to get help with this? Help.

when your lungs don't release CO2, it forms acid to form
in your system. Respitory Acidosis and I believe when the
kidneys don't buffer it by regulating the Ph by recycling
bicarb you get metabolic acidosis. The kidneys will also
dump bicarb to regulate Ph.
I would try to find out what solvents were in the adhesive
and try to find out what they can do to you. My lungs were
burned by chem fumes and a week later I aced a pulminary
function test even though I was very weak.

Hi, Andie.
You need a good Clinical Ecologist ASAP. IF this gets worse, which this condition does tend to do, you will be in even more serious trouble. See how to find a good one in your area in the MCS archives.
Get copies of ALL your medical records, and create a lifetime history as described in the Health Coaching Protocol, and take it all IN YOUR HAND when you go for your consult.
Let us know what you learn ahd how you do.
