heavy pre-menopausasl bleeding

Posted by Help on September 17, 2003 at 23:08:26:

is there anything that can be done for Really heavy bleeding in premenopause. For 1 o 2 days per month it is even difficult for me to leave home due to the bleeding being sooo heavy and with clots. Help if you know of anything besides surgery.

Have you tried progest? I was bleeding heavily, and my GYN prescribed progesterone for me.

what reults did you get using the progesterone? was it used to balance estrogen? I wish there was something natural I could use to get this all under control. To tell you the truth I wish I didn't ever again have ANY bleeding. I don't guess there is anything I could do to put an end to it besides surgery is there? This is all the pits-causing migranes and all. My body seems to be having a rough time with this!

Hi,

In the end I had a hysterectomy. The best thing I have ever done in my whole life. I felt so good afterwards. For years I was badly aneamic, trying to keep my blood cells at a proper reading. I was really ill.

Visit your doc and make sure you are not aneamic. If you are you must take very strong iron supplements (with Vit C.

I know some people say there are alternatives to surgery, but I was so ill I couldn't care less. I went in for the op and never looked back.

Good luck.

I was doing the same thing as you. Heavy bleeding, lots of cramping, lots of clots. I remember running for the bathroom first thing in the morning because I was leaving a trail on the floor (white carpet, too!). My periods had always been a bit heavy and definitely painful, but peri-menopause absolutely made things worse. I've heard some women have good results with a progesterone cream that's rubbed on the belly. I had the problem before that came out, I think. Or at least I didn't know about it. Nutritional supplements made the difference for me. Mine is soy-based and I understand that soy has a positive effect on menopause symptoms. Feel free to e-mail.

I have suggestions that helped me tremendously, especially with the migraines. I am still bleeding heavily, but only for one day and it is getting better each month.

1. Cut out all foods with sugar, white flour, white rice and anything processed. Cut out almost all fruit. I allow myself tomatoes and avacados and other vegetable like fruit, but no fruit, fruit. All of the above things really mess around with your hormones in a bad, bad way. In other words, eat only whole meats and vegetables. Occasionally I allow myself some bread, but only the sprouted bread by Food for Life. It contains no flour, no sugar and no preservatives. I used the book that Walt recommends - the Whole Foods one by Beth.

2. Get into a Kundalini Yoga class at least 3 times per week. This type of yoga helps to detoxify your body.

3. Add skilled relaxation as much as you can. I know this is difficult with the time constraints we all have on our life. But, it is really a treat once you are able to incorporate it in your lifestyle. I still have problems with this because I work at a job while trying to start a business and I'm going to school too. But, I sneak it in anytime I can. I carry my CD player and CD's around with me everywhere.

If you do the above, you WILL get better and the migraines will start to dissipate within two months. Take it from someone who was getting 4 migraines a month!
