Mercury Toxicity

thyroid and leaky gut

walt, my doctor says that along with lgs/crs/mercury toxicity i may be having thyroid problems, he further states that the above maladies will reak havoc on thyroid, adrenals, pituitary glands , which all seem to be connected. my body temperature is never more than 97 degrees and my hands and feet are always cold( THIS GOES AWAY DURING SKILLED RELAXATION by the way). he states that a lot of his patients feel a lot better( especially with chronic fatigue symptoms)with a small dose a thyroid hromone replacement( he runs a panel of tests first to see if that is the problem). he also feels that low body temperature can be stress related as well. have you seen any good results with thyroid medication? any bad side to it?

Just curious - what was the basis for the mercury toxicity assumption/diagnosis? I'm also wondering whether you got any indication as to the sequence of events. For example, I have read that mercury toxicity can cause LGS and in turn create a wonderful environment for candida.

Experience with Thyroid medication. My wife was taking a thyroid med. and found that it seemed to initially help, but then she seemed to get some side effects like heart palpitations. We're not really sure if it was the thyroid med. or not. There is a good chapter in "Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia and Environmental Illness" by Burton Goldberge and the Editors of Alternative Medicine Digest. It's available at the URL below.

Hi, tk.

Listen to Peter. Your doc seems to have his head on straight-----listen to him too!

I see no harm in a short term (3-6 months) of low dosage thyroid support. So long as you are doing your skilled relaxation twice a day, you both will be tapering you off that in that length of time.

Keep us up on your progress.

Peter,

Just a comment on mercury toxicity, thyroid condition, etc. I have a mouth full of metal - a naturopath advised that I get the amalgams removed, after I'd had a urine analysis performed (following an injection of something that makes Hg 'visible' in urine). The analysis came back quite high in Hg content. Since my body temp. is usually about 97.2, he also suggested a thyroid stimulating chemical - Liothyronine - at a dosage that would bring my temp. back to normal and hopefully kick-start my sluggish thyroid so that I wouldn't have to take this medication for life.

Well, I was going on vacation at the time and discontinued the ramp-up plan because of the caveat that I was to continue increasing the dosage til either the temp. came up or I experienced heart palpitations. Couldn't afford the chance of h.p.s on the trip, so I stopped the medication. So apparently that is a possibility of heart palpitations on this thyroid program (that doesn't put me off, it's just an alert). I haven't started back up yet, so no info. on that part. I would not be surprised if Hg toxicity and thyroid problems are related - Hg's not fun stuff.

Just some observations. Be well.

- Eileen

I have been on several cycles of Liothyronine for 6 months with the objective of regulating my temperature and restoring homeostasis after an accident that triggered post traumatic disorder. At first I had no side-effects and the treatment appeared to be successful. In November, I underwent several sessions of dental anesthesia which triggered more low temperatures and low energy levels and just plain "not feeling well". More Liothyronine was prescribed by my physician.

In the past month, I have started to experience heart palpitations and symptoms of pressure in the chest and the inability to breathe that prompted my physician to investigate the possibility of the presence of angina. It appears to me that my autonomic nervous system "forgets" to give the signal to breathe and that I seem to be hyper-ventilating in an attempt to "consciously" get enough oxygen in my system. Results of the test are not available yet.
It will be interesting to see what the developments are.

In my previous communication, I forgot to add that the major dental work being done for the past 4 months had to do with a mouthful of amalgum that needed to be dealt with. Although never confirmed with tests, my physician felt that I was probably toxic from mercury.

Dear Jhannote,

The first thing you need to do is to much more fully understand what is behind your total condition. Get a copy of Dr Pelletier's classic (most recent edition) "Mind as Healer, Mind as Slayer". Read it carefully. It was written about you! It is available world-wide and in every library system

THEN, when you have more questions, write again.
