I posted recently about severe hair shedding that I've been experiencing. A friend of mine suggested that maybe I am getting too much mercury in my diet. I rely on canned fish for breakfast -- alternating between whole cans of salmon w/bones; chunk light tuna; and lump crabmeat. I also eat 2 tins of sardines (which are supposed to be relatively free of mercury because they are so small) daily for the calcium. I have no mercury fillings in my teeth (no cavaties at all)so I am wondering if too much mercury from one's diet could cause hair loss. If so, how do I get rid of the mercury?? Any ideas would be most appreciated -- and a special thanks to those of you who took the time to respond to my earlier post.

Hi, Adrienne.
What have you learned from the mercury archives about how to get tested for this?

I guess I will have to find and alternative practioner who can do the chelation etc. But I noticed that the archives seem to all speak of mercury poisoning from dental amalgams -- I have no fillings and am just wondering if in fact it is possible to have mercury poisoning solely from eating canned fish. Given that I have no other symptoms except this horrible hair shedding, I am most likely just grasping at straws trying to find an explanation.

Hi, Adrienne.
Amalgams are but one of the causes of toxic levels of mercury.
The only way to find out is to get tested. If that is done correctly, at least you have a chance to find out. Nearly all conventional physicians have not a clue and will do the test wrong.
