doc stoll, magnesium question

Posted by doc tcm on June 01, 2002 at 08:29:52:

hi doc, thanks for your last response. i have a question about a patient with anxiety. she cannot afford acupuncture, and i don't feel she is cooking the herbal teas as often as needed. i had her get her intracelluar mag,.checked, and it was normal, but on the low end of normal, i didn't see the numbers, only i was given the information from her.
her main symptoms are esophogus spasms, which acupuncture was helping, but i am curious about sending her for mag injections. she has a complicated cyst on her rt kidney, which slightly grew from her last sono. i have read that mag is no good with people with kidney problems. i'm am not sure if this is a problem in her case.also, what is the cost of this, and how often is normal protocol. i am trying to learn the integrative aspect of medecine, along with tcm

Thanks, doc tcm.

I sincerely doubt that any kidney cyst formation would decrease her renal function tests. They are normally benign and non-functional. IF her kidney function tests are normal I would not worry about the magnesium.

Also, with her values at the low end of normal she is likely low for HER.

In MY experience, combining SR with Acupuncture greatly enhances the benefits of both--one of those as yet mostly unappreciated effects of "the integrative benefits of combining many different approaches".

Namaste`

Walt
