Hi Walt,
I've found someone willing to help with the IVs. They want to do one that includes other minerals such as calcium, zinc, copper, etc., so as not to upset the mineral balance in the body. Also the IVs will take 1 - 2 hours instead of the 5 minutes. They said something about "Tahoma clinic protocols".
This sounded okay to me, what do you think?

Hi, Happygal.
The reason this is caller Meyer's Magic Cocktail is that no one knows why it works and it is a sort of shotgun approach. It is designed to help the majority or recipients without knowing what they need. This formula is about 30 years old and probalby will make you feel better. However it also will greatly increase your expense in time and money while reducing the long term benefit to you BECAUSE you need a lot more magnesium than there is in the cocktail.
These docs are not used to having the patient come to them already knowing what they need. Perhaps the information in Selig's Book will get them to thinking.
Also take a look at Kyra Kitts, Feb 12th, 1998 note about her self-administered IV magnesium program in the archives.
I guess I should not be surprised that most practitioners would prefer a 30 year old "cocktail", that incidentally costs many times more than a specific IV that costs much less in time and money, to a more specific and modern concept. Actually I was hoping for better among open-minded docs.

Thanks so much, Walt.
I appreciate your dialoging with me about the IVs, because I don't know anything about this and with each attempt and answer I'm getting a clearer understanding of what to ask for exactly. I'm not the most brilliant person but I am persistent.
Thanks also for directing me to Kyra Kitt's messages, I had somehow skipped over them. I was so discouraged last night and reading your message this morning and hers encouraged me to keep looking until I find the right doctor to work with. I think that will be the key, finding the right person.
1. It would help me to clarify the amount of magnesium to take intravenously. In my consultation, you said 1 - 2 grams, but your last e-mail said I need more magnesium than there is in the cocktail. The last md's office I spoke with said they could order the IVs (cocktails) with 1, 2 or 5 grams of magnesium. Kyra said she used 10 grams.
2. And if I understand correctly, I am to take 1 gram orally each day all the while I'm receiving the IVs, and then continuing afterwards for several months. Right?
3. So it's really like a shot? Not like a bag of solution that goes into the arm? I just spoke with another MD who said he is willing to work with me, but then he said he wants it to go in over a period of time longer than 5 minutes. I told him I'd send him a fax with all the information so that way I can be sure he knows exactly what is needed here. Is there a specific name for the 5-minute IV?
I'll get this done yet! There's plenty of doctors around to approach, and I can fax all of them until I find one who is willing to do the job. Thanks a bunch, Walt.

Thanks, Jan.
1. Remember that we are talking about elemental grammage. Two to five grams IV would be enough at one sitting. I normally injected this over about 2-3 minutes. People normally reported feeling a flush while getting the IV.
2. Yes (elemental). Once you have been asymptomatic for a few months I would cut the dose in half every few months until symptoms begin to return. That tells you how much you need for maintenance.
3. Yes. Doing it over more than a few minutes is really for the comfort of the inexperienced doctor and not for the benefit of the patient. It is called an IV push.
Hope this helps. Persistance is the answer. Good luck.

Hi Walt,
I found someone willing to give me the 2 grams of elemental magnesium sulfate. He's not willing to do the IV push but he'll put in a catheter and do it over 15 minutes (which is better than 2 hours!). The series of 6 will cost $505 including the initial office visit. He's fairly skeptical that it will help, but at least he is willing to try. :o)
I start tomorrow (today by the time you read this). I'll let you know how it goes! Thanks for your help.
A hopeful Happygal

Update: I decided to wait for 2 weeks to do the IV because I'm doing the massage series starting this week. I don't want to do too much at once.
Also wanted to let you know that with the melatonin I'm sleeping better. Also the rebounder is wonderful. --- Making some progress! Thanks!

Thanks, Happygal.
Perhaps the doc will learn something. Perhaps he will come to think that the learning is worth doing it for free once he sees your results :>). I am sure that he has paid a lot more for a lot less learning in his career.
