topical magnesium

Haven't found anything on BB about this. I know Dr.
Stoll is of line for awhile but anyone here have any info
about using mg topically (cutaneous absorbtion)? This
is highly recommened by Dr. Norm Shealy and I'm
looking for any info about it not coming from him. Not
that I don't trust him but just looking for second opinion.

He uses Mag chloride in water. About 3 parts water to 1
part MgCl. He sells it for pretty steep price (3 pounds
for $45 on his website). Can also get as Nigari (used
to make tofu) for about $1.89 a pound. Grind to powder
in blender. Add a pinch of guar gum make it slightly
more viscous and easier to apply. Advises 1-3 tsp.
twice a day depending on body weight. Bypasses G.I.
so supposedly best way to get in to cells. Better even
than i.v. he says.

Any comments/info greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Geoffrey.

Novel idea that does make sense. It would bypass the need for IM injections in most people ESPECIALLY if mixed with 50% DMSO. I do not know why I have not thought of it. What is special about Norm's MgCl solution?

The DMSO is a great idea except--ooo, ooo that smell!
My wife has been doing sublingual heparin with DMSO
for hypercoagulation syndrome (see www.hemex.com)
and boy oh boy is she hard to kiss lately!!!

As for the specialness of Shealy's MgCl I think it is just
because his name is on it. He adds a pinch of xanthan
gum or something to thicken it a bit and some glycerin
to make it slightly moisturizing. I've just been using guar
gum (VERY small amt to thicken) and water and only
problem is it stings for awhile and then your skin feels
sort of greasy and salty at the same time from the salt
deposit. Not sure, no real evidence (labs, personal
experience) that his absorbtion info is correct but he
claims one month of 2X per day topical worth a year of
oral!!!

Nigari from Natural Import Company tele: 800-324
1878. It is food grade pure MgCl. Powder it in a dry
blender first so it mixes easily in the water. I put say, 3
Tbs MgCl powder, about green pea size pinch of guar
gum (Source Naturals) and 9 Tbs water in a jar with a
lid and shake it a bit and there you are.

Dosage: up to 110 lbs body weight 1 tsp 2x per day
to 150 or a bit more pounds 2 tsp. Over 150 pounds
use 3 tsp 2X per day. DO NOT get this in eyes, on face
or genitals etc. It can sting a bit even on tougher skin
than the just mentioned areas. I find the second
application just before bed to be extra stingy and
seems to leave me much "greasier" feeling from the
properties of the Mg. (one in morning after shower) (let
air dry). About to switch to one time daily topical dosing
to increase comfort for my compliance and add some
oral dosing to cover the bases.

Good luck
Geoffrey
