April of this year was hospitalized for heart PVC'S, diagnozed with low magnesium ( 1.3 ), Not an alcoholic or diabetic, but, been on diuretic for 40 years. I am now on 3600 mg. of magnesium oxide per day.
Doctor Stoll, is this the only remedy available?

Hi Bob:
I highly recommend that you go to the Magnesium Archives on this site ASAP. I've provided a link below, but you can access the Archives by clicking on any of the Archives links (top or side of page depending where you are on this site).
The diuretics that you have been taking have been depleting your body of magnesium (isn't it ironic that docs treat heart problems with diuretics, which rob your body of the very thing it needs for your heart to function correctly?).
In addition, magnesium oxide is one of the least absorbable forms of magnesium. You likely will need to get a series of magnesium IVs and start an absorbable form of oral mag. (all the info. you need is there in the archives).

I would like to add that, when I went looking for the "right" kind of magnesium, I ended up in a health food store. All the magnesium in the discount stores and pharmacies were magnesium oxide.

Hi, Bob.
If this is the only thing you do the problem will likely come back in the future.
My suggestion would be to start becoming an expert in SR and practice it at least 20 minutes twice a day. The combination of Mg and SR should prevent any recurrence.
Let us know what you learn and how you do.
Walt

Magnesium glycinate is good, too, or orotate.
