The symptoms of magnesium deficiency are many. Here is a list:
Insomnia
Wake up tired
Pain (lower back or neck)
Stiff and aching muscles
Bones that continue to go out of alignment
Cluster headaches
Migraine hedaches
Tiredness, weakness or exaustion
Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)
Diabetes
Nervousness
High blood pressure
Osteoporosis
PMS
Constipation
Kidney stones
Accelerated aging
Depression
Heart attack history
Irregular heartbeat
aggressive behavior
ADD
Chronic fatigue
Stroke
Jump at sudden sounds
Highly strung, jittery
Anxiety
Confusion
Muscle weaknes
Muscle tics or twitches, particularly in the face
muscle cramps
muscle spasms or quivers
muscular atrophy, dystrophy
Seizures, epileptic seizures
Angina pectoris (sharp chest pains and feeling of being suffocated)
Fading memory, sentility
Trouble keeping hands and fee warm
fewwwwwww!! That is sure a long list but as you can see, almost every problem you can think of probably involves at least a moderate magnesium deficiency.
Magesium is by far the most important mineral. magnesium activates and helps you absorb other minerals. Here is a list of things that deplete your magnesium reserves:
STRESS (mental or physical)
Caffeine
High protein diet
Too high calcium intake
High sodium diet
refined sugars
Medical drugs of all kinds
Alcohol
Tobacco
Diuretics
high perspiration
Diarrhea
white sugar and flour
Diabetes (causes magnesium loss)
Sodas (especially cola types)
Surgery
Chronic pain
High carb diet
high cholesterol or triglycerides.
In general, you could notice a difference anywhere from IMMEDIATELY, to a few weeks depending on what is going on with you. I personally recommend a water-soluble magnesium. It is better absorbed. Science is catching on. Even fat-soluble nutrients like Coenzyme Q10 are better absorbed when in a water-soluble form. Our bodies are something like 70% water so, I guess it makes sense. Hope this helps until SHAPE or Dr. Stoll comes through.

Dear Helper,
I have been trying to correct magnesium deficiency for
some time. I have all of the symptoms you mentioned.
When I take magnesium I can feel the effect, but
cannot take more than 350mg without getting loose
bowels. You mention liqiud magnesium, where can I
get it from on the internet as I live in UK and it is not
available over here. Is it the same as ionic magnesium
water? Also do you need to take some calcium with it?
Hope you can answer my questions!
Many thanks.
Nathalie

I read your post at the top of the page. Dr. Stoll is best with this. I will say that if you have a magnesium deficiency, it is best NOT to take calcium at first, only the magnesium. If your magnesium deficiency symptoms begin to return, then consider adding calcium little at a time. Lots of the time, magnesium corrects a supposed calcium deficiency by imporving its utilization.
go here: www.naturalcalm.com. It is an excelent magnesium that works. I am not sure what form it is. All I know is, it is water-soluble and this is best absorbed form.

Glad that you saw benefit so soon. The people who have the worst deficiencies usually see the greatest results. Probably because it is such a huge change for them rather than for someone who is just a little sub-optimal. That person will notice benefit too, just not as strong.

natural calm is magnesium citrate, this is not a recommended form of magnesium!!
As far as I can tell this is simply a citrate version it is not recommended.
Am I wrong???
Thx

I can't comment on that. I CAN say that the product is efficient at correcting magnesium deficiency and was formulated by a doctor who has had over 30 years experience in the area. Since everybody is different and processes nutrients differently, it is possible that some people may benefit from the form you mentioned.

Dear All,
I've just got some ionic magnesium, the problem is
when I take it I feel very shaky and faint like with low
blood sugar symptoms. Is this normal? My
magnesium deficiency symptoms are muscle
pain/spasms, muscle weakness and fast heart beat to
name but a few.
Any advice?
PS I think I need a Slow release magnesium but cannot
find one.
