Chemical Composition of Magnesium Chelates

To Dr. Stoll:

Should a certain amount of a magnesium chelate always yield the same elemntal value of magnesium? For example should 500 mg of magnesium orotate always yiled 50 mg of elmental magnesium. I am asking because i have come across many magnesium products and although they list the same amount of mineral chelate, they list different amounts of elemental magnesium. Is there a certain ratio between the mineral chelate and actual elemntal mineral that I should look for in a quality magnesium product? I would be grateful if you could supply this information relating to magnesium orotate, glycinate, and aspartate as I am interested in experimenting with all three products to find which chelate gives me the best results. Thnaks in advance for your help.

I can only answer part of your question. Magnesium glycinate is easiest on the stomach.

Hi, Gregory.

The really good companies put the elemental amount of magnesium on the lable of the product. The amount of elemental is dependant upon how much the rest of the elements in the product weigh.

To calculate this one must have a periodic table and look up each element in the formula. THE GOOD COMPANIES WILL DO THAT FOR YOU AND PUT IT ON THE LABLE!

I have voted with my dollars to get companies to do this for me. If enough people do that, all of the companies will be forced to do it!
