Whole, preferably raw milk is much healthier. You need the fat in the milk. See Basic Diet for Leaky Gut posted earlier this week by Helping You.

QZ:

I assume you are referring to Cow's milk. I have heard that cow's milk is for cows.

I don't drink whole or skim. I don't want the hormones or antibiotics. I don't support factory farming, either.

I prefer rice milk. That's what I have to share.

Thank You,
Pam

I've come across so many different applications of this logic! Cow's milk is for cows, meat is predator animals, vegetables are for cows, grains are for mice, etc. The truth is that humans, with some individual differences, are able to benefit from all of those foods. And as far as milk is concerned, people (some people) have thrived on milk. And clinical experience shows that milk is healing substance. But it has to raw, whole, and nonhomogenized. And animals can be grown without using antibiotics or supplemental hormones.

Rice milk is for rice. :)

R.

Cute!

Raised as a dairy farmer I can tell you that milk on the range, 200 years ago, might have been a healthy food. However the way it is now produced: antibiotics, hormones, ultra-pastuerized, homogenized, herbicides and pesticides concentrated in the milk, it is among the unhealthiest foods we can eat.

Be my guest but as someone who knows a LOT, personally and professionally, about how milk, and milk products, is commercially produced, I never would recommend any of MY family eat it.

Walt

The purity of food is an interesting debate. I suppose if you can exist in a remote area, are completely self sufficient and your food supply propogates itself, then you might have relatively pure foods.

A lot of things that existed 200 years ago may be more desirable, but the only way the average person will access any benefits from that era is with a time machine.

The debate over GM crops is particularly interesting. Even if growers, seed hybrodizers etc were prevailed upon to cease producing and using these products, one little bird has long since eaten a GM seed and pooped it out somewhere else. They are probably growing all over!

Moderation, a little of this, a little of that. Consider if you will, the treat food in Japan and Korea is not Sushi or pickled cabbage, its SPAM!!

They just don't get carried away.

The only milk that is recommended is one that doesn't contain the things you mentioned. Humans can screw up any food type, but that is not a good reason to avoid it as a type. Just find a high quality source. It is still possible in the USA and other countries -- unpasteurized, organic, whole, nonhomogenized... -- that is what we recommend here.
