Cellulite

Hi Everybody.

I'm 22 years old, have alot of cellulite on my thighs and butt and it gets me down a lot. I'm quite thin and people always compliment my figure, however my cellulite is quite bad. I have a huge appetite and am prone to overeating so I figure I put on cellulite instead of weight. I've done a search of all the bulletin board posts and well, I'm a bit confused about how I should approach the problem. Dr. Stoll says go off dairy. OK, thats good general advice anyway. But could someone explain about how the hormones in dairy affect/cause cellulite? Is it that they put fat in areas away from the heart?? And why a total abstinence from dairy? Dr. Stoll mentioned immunity but didn't explain.

Then there was a cellulite sufferer who was vegan and hadn't eaten dairy in years, so she was advised to cut down on carbos and take in more meat proteins. Ooookay, I think..! I'm Irish, so should this diet suit me, being a European and all?!

Lastly (I think!), I'm in my final year of college and so I'm there ALOT! Anyone have some tips on snacks etc. for my insatiable appetite? I guess I just need eating advice in general.

Thanks for reading my post, Cat.

Hello Cat. Have you looked at Dr. Stoll's response at: http://askwaltstollmd.com/archives/milk/51052.html

Also look at: http://www.naturalmom.com/milk.htm
There are plenty of references and information at this later link.

Hi, Cat.

The ONLY way you can prove (or disprove) the validity of this approach is to try it for 6-12 months. Just be sure that you have TOTALLY eliminated dairy for the test.

Let us know how you do.

Hi- I just wanted to let youknow that I am also 22, thin, and have cellulite. It makes wearing a bathing suit impossible, and if I tell my friends that I don't want to wear one they say you are so thin. Little do they know that I have bad cellulite. Because of this I did not go to the beach once this summer even though I wanted to. I understand exactly how you feel. Unfortunatley, I have found no "cure". Elimanating dairy seems extreme and I don't know if I am willing to do that. Any thoughts?

Eliminating dairy seems extreme??? Not going to the beach seems extreme to me!!!

I got rid of cellulite by eliminating dairy. It took about 6 months to notice it after I quit milk, cheese and any other dairy at all - including yogurt. I had also started eating only whole foods. I do eat meat because I am a hunter-gatherer type, but I just wanted you to know from someone who actually did it. It really worked for me.

Shannon.

If you can come up with a less "extreme" way to get rid of cellulite, PLEASE let us all know.

Listen to "been there".

Hi Shannon. I know exactly what u mean when it comes to the bathing suit scenario.. its a sad thing when an aspect of our appearance gets in the way of doing things but I know I wouldn't enjoy myself even if I did go to the beach/pool in a bikini because I'm so self-conscious of my cellulite.

As for eliminating dairy seeming extreme; yeah, I guess it is but I'm willing to give it a go. I don't know about 'total elimination' though - I think thats virtually impossible; I won't willingly take in dairy but the possibility of accidental intake exists (restaurants, eating at a friends... they might check for milk ingredients but I don't think they'll recognise casein or even whey as dairy...)- I don't want 'avoiding dairy' to become my life! I don't understand why it has to be 'total elimination' anyway. No ones explained. Surely one accidental slip in 6 months wouldn't make much of a difference??

Anyway, good luck to those, like me, who are giving it a try. I'm cutting back on refined carbo's too, can't hurt. Heres hoping...!

Cat.

How much do you want to be rid of the cellulite???

Since this is immunologically related, it takes TOTAL elimination for it to work. You cannot ever slip OR you have to start over! Once it is gone, you can see how much you can tolerate without recurrance.

I have, personally, totally eliminated dairy for a year to see how it hard might be BEFORE I ever recommended it to anyone. It is not as hard as you think.

IF you are more concerned about what your friends will think of your restricting your diet for 6 minths, than you are about your cellulite, then admit it to yourself and keep it.

I know this is blunt but I have heard these kind of "Yes, buts---" for years.

Let us know how you do IF you aver do.
