MVP:here and then gone?

I have two questions:
1) I was diagnosed with MVP in 1984 (echocardiogram). Then in 1989 I had another echo done and I was told I didn't have MVP. Could this condition go away?
2) I went to a dr yesterday because I was experiencing a pressure inside my chest in the area of my heart. It wasn't a pain or squeezing, but like someone pressed their finger slightly on my chest. Any idea what this could be?
(p.s. THis dr said that he heard a murmer near the top of the heart (he said it was an unusual place) and has ordered an echo.)

Hi, M.

MVP is a FAD diagnosis about something that is a normal variation of a normal heart. It NEVER causes any symptoms and that diagnosis will never be made after 10-15 years from now to the embarassment of those who have made it something else to worry about in patients who have a complex of symptoms.

The symptoms are NEVER from MVP but from chronic, stress-related conditions that docs have tried to ignore the causes of. They are using this convenient "diagnosis" to get the patient with many complaints off their backs by saying: "Oh, you have MVP and there is nothing we can do
about it."

Since the patient knows tht they have already had the symptoms for a long time and they have not died or had anything serious happen yet, they frequently are sort of happy to finally have a diagnosis rather than what the doc has been telling them: "Your symptoms are all in your head."

Go to the glossary, homepage article and the archives, in that order, to learn what is behind this bogus diagnosis and get on with your life.

THEN, if you still have questions, write again.

Walt
