Dear Dr. Stoll,
I have mitral valve prolapse with mitral valve regurtitation. Eleven years ago I was placed on Capoten and Inderal which has lowered my blood pressure and kept the regurgitation to a minimum. The problem is that I am frequently experiencing palpitations which make me dizzy and feel like I am going to faint. The palpitations seem to start out of the blue without any cause. My cardiologist has told me that my palpitations are nothing to worry about and to ignore them; however, my quality of life is greatly being compromised . Also, I feel very fatigued much of the time. My cardiologist told me that my heart tests all presently look good. I have also been informed that I will have to have a heart valve replacement surgery someday.
Can you give me some positive feedback about this surgery. All I have read are very frightening accounts of open heart surgery. I have also read that MVP causes sudden death. My doctor has told me that I can exercise with no limitations put on me. I would appreciate any help or feedback you can give me!!!
Thank you so much!
Diane

Dear Diane,
I challange anyone to produce ONE paper documenting ANY damage anyone has had from MVP (other than monetary & emotional). NO ONE would suggest valve replacement for MVP. Rheumatic fever can damage the mitral valve and cause regurgitation but this is a totally different kettle of fish.
You need someone knowledgable to explain exactly what you have.
MVP does not cause dysrrhythmias either.
The most likely cause of your dysrrhythmias is due to a low intracellular magnesium. Use the archives & read everything you can find about atrial fibrillation (all dysrrhythmias have similar susceptibility factors).
ALL Of your symptoms (other than the dysrrhythmias) are most likely due to Candida-Related Syndrome----the most common cause of MVP. They could take out your valve & put in a new one & all those symptoms would still be there.
UNLESS, you do not have MVP.
You need to learn a lot more about what this about to protect yourself from the pronouncements of those who cannot see the forest for the trees.
