I have a swollen, red, tender cuticle on my middle finger on my right hand. I keep thinking its going to heal, and it looks like it might be healing. Then it gets worse. The infection goes about 1/4 of an inch under the cuticle. I can push on the cuticle sometimes and this yellowish white infection stuff comes out. It also has a little bit of a foul odor. At times the cuticle area is throbing and warm. Its been this way off and on for the last month in a half. I don't have medical insurance at the moment, and was hoping for some addvice on how to tend to this problem. I feel like I've tried everything, neosporin, rubbing alcohol, peroxide, iodine, and even salt water.....none of it is working in the long run.
Im so frustrated....please help!!

Hi, Jill.
Begin hot soaks every hour (just the tip of the finger up to just beyond the infection) keep the water as hot as you can stand it for 5 minutes [just keep adding hot water as it becomes comfortable--it should be uncomfortable for the entire 5 minutes), till the infection is gone. You are going to lose this nail and you will grow a new one.
Let us know how you do.
