Hi!
I've recently had a problem with reddish/dark pink
patches appearing under some of my fingernails. The
nails themselves appear to be in good gondition
(strong with often ok cuticle, absolutely no pitting,
spooning, white ringed spots etc).
The patches occur at the finger top-end of the nail bed
and are sometimes sore (NB Nails are not ingrowing). I
have just begun a course of essential oils in case this
is nail psoriasis.
Sorry if this question has been asked a million times,
it's just that this doesn't seem to fit in with the "typical"
early stage onychomycosis symptoms.
Thanks in advance for any advice received!

Which essential oils are you taking and what quantity? I seem to have the same type problem. Will be interested in reading what responses you receive.

Hi, Wardour.
I would have to see them to have a chance to diagnose this and perhaps, even then, have no idea.
By the way, this is likely a systemic problem and not a local one.
The psoritic nails likely had a combination of psoriasis (which reduced the resistance of the nail to the ever present fungi in the environment) and onychomycosis--which is the part that the vinegar improved.

one of the richest sources of both Omega 3 and 6. The
dosage is two 1000mg capsules per day (2000mg
total). This should sort out the amino acid deficiency, if
that is root of this problem.

There is an article on the National Psoriasis Foundation's website (psoriaris.org)that mentions "nails improved with white vinegar". Unfortunately, the article itself is only accessible by becoming a member of the Foundation, so I wasn't able to read what it had to say.
