Persistant boil

Posted by Marcia on September 27, 2002 at 02:40:47:

I have had a persistant boil in the cheek of my rightbuttock for at least 10 years. Repeated treatments with anti-biotics have been to no avail. Any suggestions?

Hi, Marcia.

Persistant hot compresses (see the archives for the protocol) until it is as localized as possible. Then get it surgically excised. You will have to see the surgeon who will do it first and tell him your plan so he will be available when you are ready.

After this long, this is going to be a bigger surgery than it would have been 10 years ago before you knew how persistant it was going to be.

As you have already discovered, antibiotics are a poor treatment for boils.

Let us know how you do.

Walt
