Actually, if you want to post an answer, I'd be interested to know this information too. My mother-in-law has them on her neck, and is very bothered by them.

Are these the same as (same category) skin tags?
I had a neighbor once who was told by her dr to just cut them off (but they were not moles, just xtra skin on her neck).
I thought that was not such a great idea - besides it must hurt, and then you risk infection, scarring etc. Wouldn't it be better to have them removed professionally?

I would be interested in info on this too, since some of my family has either the mole ones or just the xtra skin ones. What the cause is, best treatment etc.

Everyone,

I have responded to this several times in the past but do not know where they are archived so here it is again:

IF these are "skin tags" you will need some one to help. One person to pull the tag tightly away from your skin and another to tightly tie a black (white thread for black people) thread around the base. Soak the threads in alcohol right before using them. The color is just so they are easy to see. Cut the ends long so you can find them later if needed.

Treat the skin as though nothing had been done: open to the air and wash over them with your bath. In a couple of weeks they will drop off and you will not even know when they disappeared.

Let us know how you do.

Walt

Can someone please tell us what causes these things? They've been appearing on my neck over the last year... Yikes! I don't feel comfortable ripping them off... Does it have anything to do with hormones? Does it have to do with being obese? Help!

Re: TAG MOLES (Correct name is "skin tags".)

Hi, Patti.

Obese people tend to have more of them than most but obesity is NOT the cause. No one knows (yet) what causes them except that they seem to be genetic.

They are SO easy for the person to get rid of that they are a bother more than anything else.
