skin tag removal

Posted by Diane on August 30, 2001 at 13:22:07:

I read your comments about removing skin tags with a sterile thread.
How do you sterilize the thread?
Does it matter what color the thread is?

I have one I would like to remove on my neck, & recently a red bumpy, itchy rash has appeared on one side of my neck & suddenly 2 skin tags of appeared in that rash. If I keep lotion on this it not to bothersome. If I let it get dry it becomes scaly, flaky, & itchy.

What caused the skin tags to jump out like that? Should I see my doctor?

Thank you.

This may help you Diane

I've done it a number of times after seeing my Dr. do it for me. I have several on my neck that I'm waiting for turtleneck season so I can do it. It usually takes mine a week to fall off.

Hi, Diane.

Wet the thread with alcohol.

The thread color depends upon the color of your skin. If you are black a white thread is best and if you are white a black thread is best. The whole idea is for the thread to be easily visible.

What is in the lotion?

If they are small, you can put lemon essential oil on them once or twice daily and they will eventually fall off.
