Hi all,
I did a search, but am still confused, so I was hoping Walt et. al. could help me.
After some convincing, my doctor agreed to prescribe nystatin powder. However, she had no clue how to write it up. She just wrote one bottle nystatin powder. The pharmacist then gave me the bottle, and when I got to my car, I read it and it said topical, contains talcum... So I went back in and the pharmacist told me there was no such thing as pure nystatin powder! I told her, yes there is, I know many people who take it. She finally agreed to call the warehouse, and found it - thankfully. I will get it Monday.
But the bottle is only 30 grams. Does anyone know what this will equate to in terms of dosages? It doesn't seem like enough for a month. I have tried to order this online without a prescription but have not had much luck, so I thought I would try the official route. Very frustrating. My doctor did also agree to full thyroid bloodwork. Progress is SO slow with allopaths.
Thank you to anyone who can help me. Should I call the doctor and ask her to write the scrip for more bottles?

Susan,
The correct dose is 1/4 tsp of the correct powder 4 times a day as recommended on this website.
I think we have archived a way to get this without a RX on this website. Perhaps if you titled your request more specifically someone would know how to direct you to the appropriate place?
Sorry for the intentional ignorance of my colleagues.

Hi Susan, Here is the product... print this out and give to both your doc and pharmacist when ordering.
Good luck,

I took Nystatin for a long time. I know the frustrations you feel. I was given topical one time. Also, it should be refrigerated!! If it is not, it gets a horrible taste and doesn't work. It should have a not too unpleasant taste that is slightly earthy.
When I began taking it I got what is called "Herksheimer's Reaction". The dead and dying yeast caused my symptoms to increase. I dropped the dosage and increased it as I could until I was doing the proper dosage.
Nystatin to me was a gift from Heaven!!
