I found a fish oil that doesn't cause fishy burps!

Posted by EllieK on July 22, 2002 at 10:16:20:

I've been reluctant to use fish oil because I usually burp the fishy taste for hours afterwards, but this weekend I found a product that doesn't do that. It's an enteric coated fish oil, called Fisol. Since it doesn't dissolve until it enters the small intestine, the burp problem is solved. It's also smaller than the other fish oil capsules I've seen.
This product has slightly less EPA and DHA than the other capsules (about 20-30mg less of each), but the makers claim it is better absorbed and thus you need less. Even if that part is untrue, one could make up for the slight difference by taking one more capsule/day, so this difference is less important to me.
Thought others with this problem might like to know about the existence of this product.

Ellie:

I found another one also and it comes in a squeeze gel in packet. It is called coromega. It has a pretty good orange cream taste to it.

Thanks, EllieK and HoneyB.

My wife has this problem. I will give them both a try.

I discovered that if I take the EFA's just before I start eating, I don't get the fishy burps afterwards.

Thanks, Mary.

I already learned that for me but my wife still complains.

Walt, have you tried Carlson's Lemon Flavored Cod Liver Oil, or is that not on the PWFD? This stuff is awesome. No fishy taste whatsoever. I mix it with plain yogurt and ground flax seeds. Mmmmm

Thanks, Joanie.

I have not but I will. The "flavoring" would be OK with the PWFD.
