I'd like to know if Udo's Ultimate Oil Blend in liquid form is a good EFA supplement? I like to put one or two tablespoons of flax seed oil in a fruit smoothie in the morning but I've heard that Udo's Oil is even better because it is well balanced. Is it worth it? Thanks

Hi Tip Toe - YES, the UDO's Choice Oil is of the highest quality and I personally recommend it to be the "BEST". However, I would not take two tablespoons everyday (just one) and I would only take the oil at night, before going to bed because it will interfere with the absorption of your other nutrients that you consume throughout the day. * Rick *

Rick,
Can you give further explanation as to why the oil blend interferes with the absorption of nutrients? I have using a tablespoon of Udo's in a salad dressing each day for lunch. Thanks.

I'm considering adding cottage cheese and flax oil to my mostly raw vegetable and juice diet. I'm avoiding most dairy, and grains, except 1 tsp. of butter(selenium)on 1/2 c. brown rice. Must have my rice!
Does this sound completely unwise to any one? Is three TBL of flax oil way too much, even with the hopes of tumor reduction? Also bought Udos oil, but now take none of it due to confusion --need more info before I jump in.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Hi, CC.
It DOES NOT. Whoever is saying this is mixing this up with oils that are not absorbable (like mineral oil). Oils that ARE absorbable do not inhibit absorbtion of anything else.
Hope this helps.

You take just 1 tsp (teaspoon) of butter and hope to get enough selenium??? Is your tumor in your brain? I am sorry if it is. Do you even know how little selenium there is in butter? And especially in 1 tsp!
Go to http://www.keephope.net/v2002.html and learn about therapeutic amounts of selenium you need to consume and how to test whether your blood level of selenium is sufficient. While there, also note about effective form of selenium -- organic. Pay attention as you read and confirm your understanding at their message board.
By the way, be sure to read their report on Healing Water from San Damiano (on the same page). If I were you, I'd get some to try. As a matter of fact, I will try to get some even though I suffer what you suffer. Maybe it will help my mother's arthritis.

Rick,
This is at least the second time you said that and never provided any supporting evidence for your statement in spite of peoples' requests. Where did you get that the oil will interfere with the absorption of other nutrients?

I'll add my 2cents...
I tell my patiens to buy flaxseed oil and wheat germ oil and mix'em in equal proportions. (I keep extra virgin olive oil out of the equation because people in Italy use it already on everything).
then I suggest to use 1 or 2 tbsp a day at a meal, POSSIBLY when eating starches rather than proteins, since oils are better digested that way...
I would never go that far to say that vegetable oils interfere with anything!!! :o
at the worst, they can slow down digestion....
...not sure if taking oils before bed is a good idea....

Hello R!
Sorry, did I imply the butter was my sole selenium supplement? Truth be told, it's my flimsy excuse for allowing that measley little tsp. of butter, which is prohibited by a few cancer diets. Butter, as a source of selenium, is published all over the internet and in several whole food books I've read . May not be much, but for the folks who recommend food only, it apparently counts for something. Me? I take supplements, can't afford to mess around.
Have search engine, use it, and continue to learn more every day. To supplement (or not) whole foods with pills and powders, that WAS a question--conflicting thoughts by "the experts."
Thanks for your response, and the link!
Have you any opinions on the flax and cottage cheese? Good links on the net, I'm following up, but I'm finding this site to be a gold mine of collected thought and experience.
Have a great day!

No, I don't really have any opinions on the flax and cottage cheese.
BTW, if you feel you are losing your battle, consider IPT. Someone I know through email emailed me her experience with Dr. Donato PerezGarcia (http://www.iptq.com). As of that email, she was very enthusiastic about this therapy done by this doctor. She had tried some of natural approaches but progressed to advanced stage of breast cancer anyway.
