Hi All,
In order to consume the recommended dosage for omega 3 and omega 6, I guess I need to buy them seperately so then I can combine them and get the right required dosage for both, is this right?
and another question:
For example if one capsule has 1000mgm of omega 3
then do I need to take 5 capsules at once ? (not to mention the omega 6 I guess I have to do the same thing)
How should I consume these oils...should I take some every few hours or all at once ?
and my very last question:
where do you recommend to get these oils from?
Thank you so much, I really need your help.
Lee
---------------
Recommended dosage: To start out, you need about 1500 mgm of omega 6 and at least 5000 mgm of omega 3's per day.

Best deal on essential oil.
Canadianvitamins.com
It's funny, they're pressed in the states, in Lynden WA, shipped to Canada, and then they must pass US agricultural processing before coming to you.
The stuff you want is called Udo's blend.
Just type in Udo on their search engine. You want the 500ml bottle.
17.99 Canadian = cheap/bottle

Hi. I have to disagree with Matt although it was nice of him to offer the information.
I would not go with UDO's because this oil contains OMEGA-6 and 9 fatty acids. We can get all the omega 6's and 9's we need from food. It is the omega 3's that we are starving for. By far, the most reliable source of omega 3's is fish oil. Some will say that flax oil contains omega 3's but this is not so. Flax contains a type of fat called Alpha linolenic acid or ALA. In the body, this gets CONVERTED into EPA/DHA which are omega 3 fats. The problem is, most people make this conversion very poorly. So, go out and by a fish oil supplement that contains 1000mg per capsule. Look to get 2-3g of fish oil daily in divided doses. Take 1 cap with each meal. If you repeat them, take them between meals with a digestive enzyme supplement. Carlson's fish oils is one of the best as far as a basic fish oil goes. If you want a better fish oil, go with a MOLECULARLY DISTILLED fish oil. This means that all impurities have been eliminated through the distilation process. Finally, the best fish oil on the market is PHARMACEUTICAL-GRADE which is one step better than MD fish oil. I hope that helps

its also important to choose trans-free oils for cooking or cold food prep. Spectrum makes a large variety. But as HY notes, our palates have been conditioned for lots of Omega6's and even with oils that haven't been damaged in processing, you want to keep intake very low (ie., seed and veg. oils.) If the taste of olive oil is too strong for you, try using 1/3 olive oil, 1/3 coconut oil, and 1/3 pumpkin seed oil. There is such a thing as deodorized coconut oil, but I haven't learned whether this adulterates the product.

HY,
I am using a Jarrow Formula called Max DHA.
Here is what is says on the bottle: Purified by molecular distillation - 80% Omega-3 fish oil 50% DHA - 20% EPA
Sardine oil (80% Omega-3) - 500mg
DHA 250 mg
EPA 100 mg
Stearidonic Acid 50 mg
Gamma Tocopherol 5 mg
Axcorbyl Palmitate 2 mg
It says it is from "ultra purified" sardine oil, concentrated by moelcular distillation...mixed glycerides.
Any thoughts on this product?
Thanks,
J

Hi, Lee.
Just remember that you do not have to take these large doses forever. The idea is to see how much good taking them can do you and then to gradually reduce the dosage until you figure out how much you need to maintain your benefits.
Now to respond to your questions:
1. Right.
2. Yes.
3. Twice a day is best although you might get away with once a day.
4. The other responders have the answers to this.
Lete us know how you do.

A new test called AA/EPA is showing promise in determining what dosage of fish oil people need to be on. It is outlined in the new book "Omega RX" by Barry Sears. Just an FYI

I really did not know that Omega 3 from Flax Oil is not as good as from fish oil.
Thank you HY and all for responding to my questions.

Thanks,HY!
I was predicting, just a few years ago that these tests would not be available for another 10-20 years and here some are already available.
Namaste`
