CONFUSED.........

Posted by orikate on August 14, 2003 at 00:17:53:

Hi,Dr.,
I read your EFAs article several times but still feel confused....When you say"a person weighing about 150 pounds needs about 1500 mgm of omega 6",do you mean "1500 mgm of gamma linolenic acid"or"1500 mgm of omega 6's(including GLA and LA)"??

Thanks, Orikate.

Remember that most people do not need more omega 6's although a large minority might notice symptomatic improvement by trying a therapeutic trial of them. The doses I am recommending are for such a trial and only trial ane error, if any results are noticed, will tell that individual how much maintenance dosage might be needed.

Both LA and GLA are omega 6s.

The vast majority of people in this country will see symptomatic improvement by a therapeutic trial of omega 3s.

Hope this helps.

Walt
