To Doc Stoll

Hi there Walt,

Sorry to beat this subject into the ground, but
I have been reading for hours, trying to find an article
addressing the correct supplementation of efa's if you
eat a whole foods diet, low in 6's, eating fish twice/week
and dark veggies mixed with all the other whole foods
mentioned on your site. All of the articles I find are
about how the average American diet is dangerously
high in 6's as you know. So, some say not to
supplement with anything other than 3's and bring
down 6's in diet AS WELL, others say take a balanced
ratio (still 6's higher than threes), and then others say
something else. It is clear everyone has their own idea
of what to do, and I can see that most of these are
written for a person that probably isn't going to change
their American diet very much.

I read in your archives about your doses, and I think I
understand your reasonings. My question is, if your diet
is supposed to be approximately a 4:1 ratio (6's:3's) for
your body to run properly, and you are eating very
healthfully, cutting out a great deal of the 6's, is it
possible that we should actually sit down and figure out
what the average ratio really is from our individual types
of diets first before we supplement long term? I know
you must be tired of this subject! Sorry....but this has
been on my mind.

Also, here is an article I believe you would relate to
(since it sounds pretty much like you!! :). Maybe you
know this woman?

Thanks!

dd

Thanks, DD.

Organic Chemistry was my worst subject in medical school. I actually got a "C".

I have gradually changed my recommendations to only using omega 3s unless tests, just now being developed, show a functionial deficiency if omega 6s. I guess the time has finally come for me to edit those home page recommendations.

In my defense, however, I have yet to even hear of anyone who has been damaged (in any way) by taking omega 6 supplementation.

Thanks Walt. This helps to clear up my confusion.
You have done a great job, no need to explain yourself.
You know I highly respect you. If I didn't, I wouldn't be
asking YOU for clarification! Thanks again.
