Well, hopefully I have managed to find and read through most of what has been said about essential oils on this BB. So now I have two questions;
1) Is it true that essential oils are better absorbed when taken in liquid form, rather than capsules? I take capsules (stored in fridge).
2) Is it true that essential oils are NOT absorbed unless they are taken with a protein or fat emulsifier (for example soy lethicin)? I take mine after lunch and dinner with 1200mg of soy lethicin per time.
Please also let me know how you store and take yours and what benefits, if any, you have seen. How long did it take before these benefits were noticeable?
Thanks
Joanna

Capsules are more convenient and much more expensive than the liquid form. Due to the inherently fragile nature of EFA's, the oils should be kept chilled, away from oxygen, and out of direct light. Capsules keep the oils away from oxygen and light but stores do not usually keep them chilled.
I buy the fresh oils - "Udo's Choice" - and keep a bottle in my fridge.

Hi Joanna.
Benefits depend upon the problem (mainly) and its severity (partly).
You are taking your oils exactly how I am taking mine and in the same form. I have seen no information suggesting that capsules inhibit the absorbtion and HAVE seen a lot of information recommending they be refrigerated.
Hope this helps.

Good info, Lincoln.
Thanks.
The good companies bottle their oils in a nitrogen atmosphere and so long as they are not opened do not oxidize. If they are in a dark bottle, and kept out of direct sunlight, they hava a VERY long shelf life. It is only after opening the bottle that they need to be refrigerated to prevent oxidation (rancidity).

Thank you both for you input.
I would also be interested to know if you take your oils with a protein (for example soy lethicin) to aid absorbsion, or if it is ok to take them on their own?
A silly question perhaps, but I would like to know; In taking soy lethicin, am I taking a product that would increase my estrogen (phytoestrogen) levels? I don't really want to do that.

Hi, Joanna.
I think you are all right with the soy lecithin. The estrogenic fraction is different than the lecithin.
I think it matters not how you take the essential oils.
