As far as I know it's OK to do that, probably should drink the mixture immediately though. My concern is that you say your oil tastes bad, if it is flaxseed oil and it has a bad taste or smell it is rancid and should be discarded. I had that problem when I bought a bottle, I kept choking it down although I found it disgusting then learned from others here that it should have a fresh pleasant nutty taste, so I threw mine out and have gone back to capsules.

I am a certified Herbalist and I have just one comment about the essential oils in capsule form. According to the sources that I have read, there are relatively ineffective. I belive that it is related to the processing that the oils undergo when packaged. I would recommend the fresh oils instead. Just don't keep them for longer than a few weeks. With flaxseed oil, grind up the seeds themselves and refrigerate them. They stay good for a few weeks. You can put them in fat-free yogurt or on cereal. They're really not bad. Just remember to use small amounts so you use them before they turn rancid.

Rick, if you still have it, could you point me to the sources that you read about encapsulated EFAs? As someone who take the capsule forms, I'd be really bummed to hear that they don't work. I've been taking them faithfully for a little over one week now and I believe they have helped decrease the oiliness of my complexion. I haven't noticed a reduction in my acne but I feel that one week is too soon to expect those results. I'm going to give it a fair trial of at least 3 months.

As an herbalist, what herbal remedies do you find helpful for chronic adult acne?

You know, we could use an herbalist on this BB! I hope you'll hang around awhile.

Hi, Rick.

Since these oils tend to get rancid when exposed to air, and the capsules help protect them from the air, I see no way that the capsules would be less effective than the fresh oil (although "fresh" is always better). I have seen MANY of my patients get their benefits from the encapsulated form (even my wife). SO, my suggestion would be for people to let their own bodyminds decide for them. Try one form and then months later, try the other. What works for the individual works for the individual.

Namaste`

Walt
