hi my name is susan bailey i would greatly appriciate it if you could answer my question.
i am 21 years old i was diagnosed with osgood-schlatters disease when i was 11. i saw specalists and had x-rays. i was told that the problem would be gone i a year or two and to rest the knees. 10 years on and i still have large lumps on my knees and they are still very painful. i can't kneel down or bend the knee's without a lot of pain and if i hit them i would be in agony. i would like to know if there is anything i could do to get rid of the problem. i was put on voltrol 75 i think for about a year but i did nothing. i dont care at this stage what has to be done i would just like to get rid of the lumps. i would be very grateful for any information you could give me.
thanks again
susan bailey

Hi, Susan.
Whoever told you that (in the beginning) was totally ignorant about the course of this condition. That tells me that you likely also got poor advice about what to DO about it--Which is why you have your symptoms now.
NOW, it is likely going to take surgery to resolve this. Since the allopaths have a monopoly in this country you are likely going to have as hard a time finding someone competent as when you were 10.
MY best advice would be to see a sports medicine specialist or a DO (osteopathic) orthopedic surgeon in consultation.
Let us know what you learn and how you do.
I WOULD be interested in hearing what advice you were given for managing this in the beginning.
