Hi,
I have had osgood schlatters for a couple of years I am now 11, i have been off any physical education running and sports for nearly 7 weeks and found that it hasn't helped. My GP told me to stay off sports for a while longer and gave me Ibroprofen to ease the pain. She is also sending me for physio. Is there any thing else i can do to help it get better as I am running out of ideas.

I am just commenting because I am pretty sure that is what I have also got. Osgood Schlatters... Its a painful bump on my knee, though it doesnt affect my sports and stuff. Im 13 y/o. But, yeah, Ive heard the pain goes away when you have stopped growing. My mom had they same thing and thats what happened to her, though the bump still remains...
Well, Good luck :)

Hi, Zoe.
Listen to Rian.
Any doc who suggests avoiding exertional activities for only 7 weeks [or even 7 months--should be more like 7 years] does not know what he is treating. It only gets better when you stop growing (about age 20).
Spend time in the archives about this and let us know what you learn. Competitive swimming would be a great sport for you during this time (not diving). You should even avoid stairs.
Let us know what you learn.
