Hi:
I'm 39 and was just diagnosed with Osgood-Schlatter. I can't undo my child-hood so what's done is done. However, for the past 25 years, my knees have not really bothered me except when I was kneeling and when I bang aginst it. In the past, I would recover within a day or two, but lately, it's been taking months. The x-rays showed an little ossicle?? but my orthopedist recommended against surgery as he wasn't sure how much good it would do plus my pain is not severe and goes away after some rest.
My only concern is whether Osgood-Schlatter will get progressively worse? Hate to have surgery because of bad knees when I'm 70.

Hi, Uncle.
This might bother you more as you get older but will not damage your knee joint. Removal of the "ossicle" would probably resolve the problem and THIS is not like having knee surgery. The ossicle is right under the skin and is not connected to the knee joint.
Hope this helps.
