Perioral Dematitis

Posted by Karla [629.1803] on February 13, 2005 at 14:38:09:

My daughter has suffered from POD since she was about 12 years old. She has gone through it all, from Steroid cream (we soon learned that was a mistake), Doxycycline, Minocycline, no SLS, etc. She had at least 3-4 bouts of POD each year. She is now 24 years old and we have finally found something that works for her. When she starts to have an outbreak she uses Oil of Oregano on the areas. She said that it stings a little the first couple of times she uses it. She uses it twice daily and applies it very sparingly to the areas. She said it does not smell very good, but she can see the outbreak dissapear fast. She purchased the Oil of Oregano at a health food store, it is very reasonable and lasts a long time. She has been drug free for a year now. She felt helpless before she found this.

Tea tree oil worked for me on drying the skin.....

but nothing but the PH of the body (and eating better) worked for me longterm.

Thanks, Carla.

One more option. The lesson here is: Never stop trying and learning.
