peri-oral dermatitis

Can someone please help me with more information about this? It seems to be mostly speculation at this time. Some say toothpastes are to blame but I've used the same one for 32 years only recently switching to the tatar control version in the same brand (Crest). Is there a specific ingredient that I should look for? Others have mentioned Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), but the items that I use that contain this I have also been using for 20+ years without change. I have always been sensitive to lotions, etc. and have not switched between them for this reason. I am curious as to whether or not this condition is a result of a change in what you use or a build up over time? Also, what kind of information is important regarding hormone deficiencies? Nothing in my diet (which is terrible) has changed in my 30+ years of life except that I stopped drinking whole milk about 6 months ago due to lactose intolerance. Still eat cheese with no difficulty if in moderation. Again, not much change to indicate that the sudden occurence of this perioral dermatitis is related to something new? Help anyone???

Hi, Nicole.

Nearly ALL allergies start suddenly to something that the person had been exposed to for years.

Go to the archives for perleche and perioral and try the only tooth paste specifically designed with perioral dermatitis in mind.

Let us know how you do. You MIGHT have to change your entire immunological reserves to resolve this but the toothpaste is the first thing to try. Be sure not to continue using ANY other chenmicals in (or around) your mouth while you are trying the toothpaste (mouthwash, lipstick, makeup, etc.)

Walt
