My name is Vanessa and I recently read your posting about peri oral
dermatitis. I myself have been battling with it for 5 years on and off.
It comes and goes and nothing seems to cure it once the cycle starts. I
had given up with doctors, and decided just to let it run its course
when it did come. This time around presently speaking) I gave in and
decided to let the dermatologist take another shot at it. He put me on a
facial steroid ( Dermatop) which calmed things for a while, but never
cleared things up completely. I recently started bleaching my teeth, and
that's right about the time my dermatitis flared up ,steroid or no
steroid. I went back to the dermatologist and he took me off the steroid
and put me on tetracycline and a lotion called Klaron. Which brings me
to today, my dermatitis is at its worst (itchy, red, dry, hot, bubbly)
and very, very embarrassing. Everyone has a remedy for me I'm afraid to
try new things in fear of it getting worse. I read your posting which
was very informative as far as the SLS contained in many products. I
stopped using regular toothpaste immediately, and I don't wash my face
with anything but water. Should I stop using regular soap on my body, or
washing my clothes? How soon after you stopped using these products did
you notice a difference? Did any of the medications or lotions work in
taming the dermatitis? I realize that everyone's case is individual and
what may work for one person may not for another. I'm just interested in
hearing how it was for someone who actually had it. It was a bit
comforting to know that other people have this, most people look at me
and God only knows what they think. How long has it been since yours
last flared up?
Any other suggestions?
Sincerely,
Vanessa

The root of your problem can be traced to your LGS and likely you also have C-RS. Try this and see where it leads you:

Hi, Vanessa.
You deserve a better dermatologist than this one that is just "stumbling around in the dark".
Since this is a form of allergy, it will take you about 4-6 weeks to see results. Some see significant results sooner.
However this is basically the same mechanism as "housewives dermatitis" or MCS (Multiple Chemical Sensitivity). SO, once you have it it is likely that your skin in this area has lost its normal barrier to ANY chemical and so you are sensitive to stuff thay no one else would consider.
Once most of the offending chemicals have been eliminated, the body tends to re-establish this barrier but that takes about 6 months. In the meantime be suspicious of ANYTHING that might have chemicals in it.
Let us know how you do.
