Can Dr. Stoll tell me how common perioral dermatitis is in infants? Can a latex allergy (possibly from a pacifier) cause this? If the cause were a detergent or soap, I would think it would appear on other parts of the body. My 5 month old has had a "face rash" it seems, since he's been born, and although we haven't used steroids of any kind, the rash doesn't respond to any lotions or special soaps. I'm on my 3rd formula, Nutramigen, by Enfamil. Thank you for your help.

Hi, Laurie.
Uncommon in the general population of infants but common in genetically susceptible ones that are born with dysbiosis, LGS and posibly C-RS.
Surely an allergic reaction to a pacifier can be the triggering cause of this specific rash. By far, the most important thing is to recognize the condition for what it is: a mesage from the body asking for help.
Use the search engine for these subjects and THEN, if you still have questions, write again.
