perioral dermatitis

I was wondering about candida and perioral dermatitis and using anti-fungal creams on the face. I have had yeast problems for a few years, I tried the diet but seemed to have no change so i have slowly gotten away from the diet but about two years ago I started having the perioral thing and was prescribed topical medication by my dermatologist and it worked fine until recently when the rash completely overtook my face and the doctor prescribed oral antibiotics. They clamed the rash down but I still have the condition and am worried about stopping the antibiotics but am also not prepared to continue taking them indefinitely. However i can't live with a horrible swollen blister face. So I was reading about the japanese girl that had made reference to yeast and anti fungal salve. I was not able to find any other mentions of the connection between the two conditions. Help?/!

Hi, christal.

In MY experience POD is not directly related to fungus but it IS directly related to LGS.

I have seen this on other posts about perioral dermatitis but honestly I am having a difficut time understanding what leaky gut is and how you would know if you have it. So, would you say following the candida diets is not likely to help or using an antifungal lotion would not help?

Christal, read the article on leaky gut in the topics and you will get a better understanding. I've heard that skin conditions often to relate to how "fats" are handled by the gut. That certainly would apply to leaky gut.

Well I have read about the "leaky gut". I suppose it could apply to me there are a range of symptoms that could inevitably apply to anyone at one time or another. I would like to know if there is way to definitively know that you have this. Are there tests that are done by medical doctors or how do you determine this is really what you have. I feel that I am tired of guessing about what the problem is. When I have tried a few acupunturists or other natural doctors they sort of assume that you know what you have. There seems to be little diagnostic activity. Everyone wants answers but I am not interested in chasing another speculation of some disease that I think I have because someone on the internet told me I might have it. I don't mean to be hostile but I am frustrated. I live in Austin TX if anyone could recommend a credible doctor for this or a way to be reliably tested I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you,
Christal

Hi, christal.

How to find a lab that is good at doing these tests and how to find a doc who can interpret them is posted in the LGS archives.

Let us know what you learn.

I find that this website and the searching of it for information is overwhelming and can turn a person into an obsessive freak. I went to an herbalist and she was the first non-medical person to address the situation in a way that actually made me feel better instead of encouraging an obsessive lifestyle. And my rash improved. As for what I learned from your "archives". I learned that the majority of the postings contain no information at all, unless you are into listening to alot of compulsive and distressed people talk about their health you are wasting time. I swore I would never come to this site again but I wanted to state my peace. Thank you for hours of useless and stressful time spent.

Thanks, cristal.

Knowledge is NEVER a waste of time. I hope everyone can resolve their problem with POD just as you have and that your problem never recurrs. The chances are that you will eventually find that the "useless knowledge", you are presently disparaging, will be useful to you.

God bless you, cristal. I think your response was
classic. A website like this is for intelligent people who
are also not selfish enough to help others as well. One
must have enough brains to look for & process
information.

Well, I never said knowledge was a waste of time and, I don't know where you got that from. What is a waste of time is spending ridiculous amounts of time listening to everyone go on randomly about thier health issues. When people ask for information and you refer them to the "archive" there is no coherent way to just get information without going through hundreds of postings about god knows what. It is extremely frustrating. I guess I am not that interested in reading all that just to get an answer to one or two questions. It's seems like you don't want to give help you want people you want them to get lost swimming in this world of speculation. I think knowledge is a great thing but I'll get mine other places if people are not going to be direct with me. If I am not approaching this as a spiritual quest it is because I am not looking for that sort of experience. I asked a question and was referred to this mish mash of health distress by no less than a few hundred people.
Sorry if I have offended you or your dedicated followers. But, just to be clear knowledge is not something I felt I was getting.

Thanks Christal.

If you can come up with a better way to get this information out, I am all ears.

However, it has to be something that takes me less time because I am already donating an average of 4 hours a day to this way.

Hi, Christal,
I still feel that going to the "glossary" first is a good idea. I just looked up LGS in the glossary, and there is long paragraph written by Dr. Stoll about it. Also, the name of Smokey Mountain Labs and location, etc. is there (where to get tested was one of your questions, I think), plus other good information. Then, if you want to go to the Q & A section, you can click on it. Try it and see what you think. Raisa
