Chris,

FIRST and foremost, learn what poison ivy looks like and AVOID it.

Next try Rhus Tox (a widely available Homeopathic remedy).

Make a solution of two teaspoons ordinary household bleach in a gallon of warm water. Soak the affected part for ten to fifteen minutes.

Hi--Last year I had SEVERE systemic poison ivy, I did not know what it looked like and spent an entire day ripping it off of the side of my house without gloves, then when tired took a nap in all of that goo...needless to say, I landed up in the hospital. I was told there was nothing except prednisone by the hospital...Needless to say, I did some looking on the i-net, and found a product named Zanfel. It is not cheap, but I swear to you on my life it is worth it, a little goes a long way, and it has a good shelf life. A 1oz tube lasted me through 5 weeks. I had to reapply because when you have poison ivy systemically (meaning it is within your bloodstream), you can continue to have breakouts anywhere, even places not exposed for 5-6 weeks after. Here is how the Zanfel works, (I had the premixed 1oz tube about $32 if I remember correctly) you place a small bit into your hands, about the same amount of toothpaste you put on a toothbrush, and you wet your hands a bit, massage it into your skin for 15-30 seconds, and rinse thoroughly. I did it in the shower the 1st time, because you need to make sure it all gets rinsed off, so I went from my face down. The itching and oozing was immediately relieved. At 1st I thought it was just the shower, but it did the very same thing when I had out breaks a week later. This product comes with a $$ back gaurantee, and they will ship next day Fed-X. When I purchased, I was in agony, and willing to try anything, as I could not use my own hands to eat because they were so swollen. This stuff really works, and I still have some left...Somehow it binds to the oil called Urushiol, the poison oil in poison ivy, and it pulls it away from your skin and washes it down the drain, this is why you MUST rinse thoroughly. If I remember correctly, the product is guaranteed to work in 15-30 seconds...that was a pretty bold statement, I never thought it would work as claimed, but it did. My boyfriend has used it as well, with the same results. If you get on their website, it gives you all kinds of info on how it works. I live in Pennsylvania, and they do not have it in drugstores here yet, but also, in some states you can buy it in the stores, and there is a list of stores on their site as well. Good Luck, you will be shocked when you try it, and also...just FYI, it is safe to use on your genital area, does not burn or tingle...Also on the face, but you should not get it in your eyes, as with most products. Also does not make skin feel dry or scaley. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Celena

Thanks, Celena!

I have not heard of this stuff. I will be very interested in hearing from anyone who tries this.
