Hello! I am a desperate victim of terrible vericose veins. I am 25 years old and have so many huge veins on my right leg that I don't even know where to begin. The problem is, I am 5 months pregnant, and the veins above my knee are beginning to clot, the skin getting red and sooooo sore. I have inherited this from my mother, but I am also very over-weight. I was losing weight before I started out with my baby, but now I don't know what to do!!! I would really like to do someithing herbally if that's possible. I have some elastic stockings that go clear up the thigh, but I've read that you don't suggest anything above the knee, but right now that's where the problem is. What do I do? HEEEEELP!

Hi, Sarah.
Unfortunately, you are in a bind. With everything against you, now is not the time to try to resolve this.
Your best bet is to lose the weight as fast as you can (no real danger to the child during pregnancy). You should keep up your micronutrients (Whole Food Concentrates) to be sure but the fetus can feed off your fat very adequately. You also will need to spend a lot of time lying down with your feet and legs higher than your hips while using hot compresses when the veins are inflammed.
You should have no more pregnancies until you are normal weight (and then gain no more than 20# with the pregnancy). Youi will need to either convince the surgeon that you are going to maintain your weight OR have no more pregnancies before he will agree to do the surgery you so desperately need--impossible with this pregnancy.
Even with all this you are in a risky situation for a moving clot to the lungs. You have waited much too long to resolve this to have many options left to you.
Let us know how you do.
Walt
