retroflexed uterus

Dr. Stoll, I went to the library, and you are right. I do have a retroflexed uterus, not a prolapsed uterus. So now what? Exercises? Thank you, Aimee

Dear Aimee,

Yep! Knee-chest exercises for at least 20 minutes twice a day. Interestingly enough this is a good position in which to do skilled relaxation AND tension in the levator ani is one of the common causes of retroverted uterus (see the archives about IC).

Any nurse can tell you how to do effective knee chest. You doc should have told you. Also, any library would have picture books showing how to do it.

You should start seeing benefits in about 3 months with clearing in 6-9 months. THEN, you may need to do it daily for a few months to keep it in the normal position long enough for it to stay.

In the future, having experienced it once and how it felt to be corrected, you will know if it starts going back. Just do what worked this time and you shouldn't have to do it more than a few weeks.

Let us know how you do.

Walt
