Hi Dr. Stoll,
I read one of your previous posts on IC and pregnancy and you mentioned that pregnancy would have no effect on IC. My bladder has been MUCH calmer since about the 2 1/2 months along. I was just curious what your opinion was on why this may be?

Jill-
I believe your question is similar to the one I asked Dr stoll several months back..he did say pregnancy changes so much about your body and that this could affect it somewhat. My experience has been... the first 2 months of PG showed improvement, but still having some symptoms and discomfort...I then changed my diet(high alkaline/low acid, whole foods,no sugar) started SR (20 mins 2xs pr day),(added to my daily aerobics) also take suppliments and noticed a significant reduction of symptoms by 5 months pg. I am now 30 weeks and have been symptom free for some time. I have been told this is only because of the pregnancy that my symptoms are gone...I choose to believe this is not true, and try to remain confident that I am on the road to healing completly. The thought of the IC starting up again after baby arrives is more than I can handle. Dr Stoll- if you are reading this, please give my your opinion as to my chances of reoccerance after baby- I know you have a lot of experience and I appriciate your input very much. I am a little worried about what will happen when baby is born...Time for SR...time for excercise...In the six weeks postpartum I will not be able to excercise...are my chances of IC symptoms returning higher? It will be six months of practicing SR when my Due date arrives. I know Dr stoll states it takes 6 months for SR to fully work..Trying to stay positive here!!Also staying away from the IC website, as that makes me feel hopeless..HOPE...that is the greatest gift, and Dr stoll gave it to me...Hope that there IS something you can do for this. Thanks for your input Dr, and Jill, best of luck to you!

Thanks, Amanda (and Jill).
I would say that your 6 months of practicing SR will reduce your chances of IC returning after the pregnancy.
No one, yet, fully understands the actual process of pregnancy or even the hormonal changes that take place.
This is why it is a misunderstanding of whatever I have said about this in the past to say that pregnancy woudl not affect anything--since EVERYTHING present prior to a pregnancy has the potential of being altered (for good or bad) during the pregnancy.
Hope this helps
Walt
