Hello again Dr. Stoll,
I am 36 weeks pregnant, and both my children have a cold resulting in repiratory infections ( 6 yr old on antibiotics and an inhaler). I woke up this morning feeling achy, and when I coughed, it hurt like hell in my chest. I have not had a cold in about a year. Is there any way to ward this off before it becomes real bad? ( already on prenatal vit.)
I certainly would not want to have a bad cold going into labour, or it causing labour. Any advice?

Dear Tammy,
Unfortunately most "colds" do not start with a cough. The current "flu" epidemic DOES.
If this is a "cold" you can abort it by taking esterified vitamin C to your"tolerance", using zinc gluconate lozenges, using a cold mist or ultrasonic vaporizor wherever you are and drinking lots of water while taking 400 milligrams of "G G Cen" (OTC glyceryl guiacollate) 4 times a day. See the chapter about this in my book if you have a copy.
If it is the flu, the C will help but will only cut the course to a week from the usual 3-4 weeks; not stop it in a day like it would a "cold".
Keep your obstetrician advised of your condition. Nothing I have suggested could possibly hurt your pregnancy.
Walt
