I have been going to different dermatologist. I have been told that I have psorasis. I have on my scalp, hands, and feet.

Does this cause your hair to break and will it grow back.
Please help. I am desperate.

Hi Cee Cee, allopathic medicine has no known cure for psorasis. If you can get neem leaves that may help. What you do is soak the leavees in hot water over night and then use that for bathing on a daily basis. i believe you can also get a neem soap, I dont know if that will work as well, good luck

I take zyrtec for my excema/psorasis it helps a little bit with the itching and that helps it to heal. Dermatologists have no answers at all for me. I tried an allergist in my area who made up some concoction that the pharmacy had no idea how to make or what it was. This helped me it was some bromide solution soak and then a salicylic acid rub. it sloughed the dead skin away and helped wih the itch. I read somewhere that these creams that they give you for your hands and feet do not work because the type of skin on your hands and feet does not easily let any of the mdicine in. something like 2 percent on hands and less on feet. I would try what zarim said but i never heard of NEEM leaves.
Good luck let me know if you find anything that works.

my mother had it and a Dr she went to for something else
about 35yrs ago gave her a script for antibiotic cream and
cleared it up fast. Shame she didn't know what it was since
no one else seems to know hoe to cure it.

If it was me a would try salt water with cayenne pepper in
it and make a plaster to keep it in place for a while.
Opps. Think you said it was your scalp. Guess I would keep
my hair wet with it for as long as I could.

After 10 (TEN!) extremely frustrating years and many doctors and NUMEROUS medications from cortisone pills, cortisone creams of several strenghts, tar creams, Dovonex, and trying using vasoline, aloe, taking evening primrose oil, borage oil, grapeseed extract, I took classes in Tai Chi, tried visualization, sat out in the sun, etc, etc, for psoriasis (earlier I was told I had eczema) nearly covering the palms of my hands and last year it was covering the soles of my feet and was starting on the backs of my hands and started on my shin, too!! I was having trouble using my hands, they cracked and bled and hurt whenever I touched anything (And believe me, you just don't realize how much you use your hands!) I finally read Dr William Crook's book, The Yeast Connection and through THIS (DR Stoll) web site found out from Dr. Stoll's posts about Beth Loiselle's book The Healing Power of Whole Foods. I started the change to whole foods once last April and thought I could tell a difference but it was hard to follow the diet(I had only The Yeast Connection book then), and thought maybe it was just wishful thinking that there was some slight improvement in my hands. Then last August (2001) I began earnestly following a whole foods diet, The Perfect Whole Foods Diet, for Candidiasis, from Beth Loiselle's book. My dermatologist did prescribe an oral antifungal which I took for three months while following the diet. I got off all sugar (ALL SUGAR, that includes fructose, dextrose, maltidextrin, etc - all of the names for sugar are described in Ms. Loiselle's book), all white flour, all processed food, all refined food, ALL JUNK FOOD! There was definite improvement after the first three months and by four more months (and I've been off the oral antifungal since Nov.) MY HANDS ARE HEALED, MY FEET ARE ALMOST ALL HEALED AND I LOST OVER 30 POUNDS (which I really needed to lose)!!!!!! Plus my respiratory allergies are just about gone!!! This change in diet was very much worth it and I really wish others would try it, not just for psoriasis but probably most of the illness people have could be cured by getting off sugar, white flour and processed, refined, JUNK food. I know I sound nearly fanatical but the difference these dietary changes made in my life is phenomenal!! I was barely able to use my hands and I was starting to have trouble walking!!! I didn't know what was going to become of me!! Thanks for listening and GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!

My husband has psoriasis really bad. After researching my son's ADHD, I found that eczema and psoriasis are symptoms of an essential fatty acid deficiency. Buy some flax oil capsules, prick one end with a pin and squeeze it on your worst places (I do this for my husband.) I bet by the next morning most of the places will be gone. Take 1000 mg flax oil capsules daily too - great preventative!
