Rolfing tune up; rolfing endorsement

hi again everybody
i'd like to share a few more good things...

I went for a little rolfing tune up yesterday, mostly to help me fall into better SR again.

Rolfing and its techniques are powerful. For as long as I can remember (im 27), my smile has been uneven and I have used one side of my mouth a little more. NOT ANYMORE ! The stellar practitioner worked through some very old and solid "knots" ("energy cysts" if you like the Upledger terminology; adhesions if you like the terminology of other types of manipulation; whatever) in and around the mouth.

two spots in particular were super super painful (i am kind of different about "pain." i found the standard ten sessions of rolfing to be almost pain-free to me and i found the pressure to be enjoyable). So to get through those few spots-- tears and all-- i told myself to listen to music. The harder the practitoner pressed, the more clearly i heard a few lines of middle movement of piano sonata thirty by Beethoven, which i had just been listentng to in the car on the way over. By the second spot, i felt nothing at all, only hearing the music, until i thought of something else and concentration broke and like WOW , what a slam of pain.

Anyway, we are so fortunate to have such a wise pratitioner here. She could evaluate my body and determine what and where priorities were, apart from wading into the standard ten sessions of rolfing again...and i am dropping into SR beautifully again.

and i look different !

Any of you Aussies on the board know of any good rolfing practitioners out this way preferably in WA? I would like to go with a recommendation or specifically an organization who is affliated with qualified rolfers.

I dont want to go with just anyone. I have had deep tissue massage done, is that the same?

I did find it released lots of toxins as my body felt very sluggish afterwards, but the next day felt quite rejuvenated. Sounds like rolfing may be more intense than deep tissue massage, if it is different at all.

Thanks

Sensual

Hi Sensual,
I had deep tissue massage, its not the same as Rolfing.
Hope you can find someone over where you are to do some
Rolfing. I've heard lots of good things about it.

do a search on google for rolfing...

there is at least one organization that teaches and certifies rolfers. You should be able to find a directory on the web.

massage works on muscle. rolfing works on other soft tissue-- connective tissue : muscle to muscle, bone to muscle, etc. in these soft tissues do we store lots of long term stress, more and deeper than regular tension in muscles. a good rolfing provides benefits for at least a year.
